5 Things I Love About Earth Origins Cafe

On the second floor, above Earth Origins Marketplace in Westgate Alabang, is a cafe that serves delicious, healthy and organic meals. Earth Origins Cafe has quickly become a favorite of mine, and it’s not unusual to see me there with family or friends, eating, laughing, and having fun. Why do I keep coming back to this place? Here are 5 reasons.

1. They open early.

Quick breakfast date at Earth Origins with my friend, Camille. These mini get-togethers are such sanity-savers for us moms!

Any place that I can run to for some quiet time after the craziness otherwise known as morning preps and school drop off, gets a great big YASSS from me. The cafe opens at 8:30, which means I can sneak in for a quick breakfast, a nice dose of fresh juice, or even just a hot cup of organic, locally-grown coffee before I face the rest of my day.

2. They serve amazing breakfast meals.

Speaking of breakfast, Earth Origins does this amazingly. There are sausage platters, organic eggs, homemade breads, and smoothie bowls. You can get pancakes. You can get Kesong puti. And you can indulge without the guilt. Some of the best breakfast plates I’ve had here are the Organic Bratwurst, the Chicken Pattie on Homemade Camote Pandesal, and the Chicken Sausage.

I love having breakfast at Earth Origins, especially with my girlfriends. We can sit there all morning, and just talk, and eat, and eat, and talk. It’s really a fantastic way to start the day.

3. You can buy your favorite things from the cafe at the marketplace downstairs.

Confession: I have been known to hoard sausages from the Earth Origins freezer because I liked them so much when I had them at the Cafe. I think it’s wonderfully convenient that I can take home the things that I like (like the pork chops, organic chicken for roasting, veggies, and lots of other things,) and make them at home whenever cravings hit.

4. The lunch and dinner options are just as fantastic as their breakfast menu.

Hands-down the best pork chop I have ever had

When at Earth Origins Cafe, you must try the Korean Style Fried Cauliflower and the Organic Grilled Pork Chop. TRUST ME. Also on top of my list of favorites are the Bleu Cheese Burger, the Crabstick and Mango Wrap (their Probiotic Keffir Sauce is amazeballs), and the Protein Boost Salad (I love that Summer Herb Vinaigrette, which you can buy from the marketplace also!)

5. The staff is super pleasant

I’m the kind of person who asks a lot of questions, and likes to interact with people in a store. The staff at Earth Origins has always been so nice to me, answering my questions and helping me out when there’s something I can’t find. One time, I even left a bag of red rice behind, and I didn’t realize it until I got home. Total Mombrain! When I came back few days later, they gave me my forgotten bag of rice, and even joked that I should really remember to take it home this time. That is certainly my idea of great service!

Pre-birthday lunch with the boys at my favorite place in Westgate!

If you haven’t tried Earth Origins yet, I really think you should! I’ve gone there with my boys, and they both enjoyed. I’ve had lunch there with my mom who isn’t a fan of health food (sorry, mommy) and she happily enjoyed everything we ordered. My friend, Camille, actually came back a few days after we had breakfast there, so that she could try something else from their menu. I really love this place, and I’m glad I’ve been able to share it with people that matter to me, too.

Westgate Easter EGGventure

Like I said in yesterday’s post, the boys and I went to two Easter events this year. I really made an effort to make it to Westgate’s Easter celebration because I know that Little MrC enjoys attending events there. We’ve been to several of Westgate’s Easter and Halloween events from the time that I was working for Filinvest, and even afterwards.

Bonus: These events give me an opportunity to hang out with my former workmates.

Extra Bonus: These events also give me an excuse to invite the boys for dinner at Whistlestop, something that has become a post-event tradition for us from my mall events days.

We arrived just after 5pm, which really is the best time to come to Westgate because it isn’t too hot anymore. At the registration area, we were given a map for the stations that we needed to visit. There, we had to answer a question. The first letter of each correct answer would spell out the “secret word”, which participants needed to claim their prizes. Right off the bat, this guy knew which prize he wanted. Can you guess which one it is?

The stations were spread out all across Westgate. In each one, there was a giant Easter egg, made by the very talented creatives people of Westgate and Festival Supermall. I’ve worked with these guys, and really, they are amazeballs.

After our really hot afternoon in Makati, the Alabang breeze was such a welcome relief. One of the best things about Westgate on a good weather day is that you can really dine alfresco without having to worry about melting from the heat. It’s especially lovely there at Christmas time.

Westgate in the late afternoon

I actually enjoyed answering the questions at all of the stops. The promo girls couldn’t help but laugh at all the answers that the boys and I threw around. One of the skills that I’ve had to master as a writer is how to say things in a different way, and this often involves the use of synonyms. So, yes, I could think of more than one way to answer the clues given. Good thing MrC was also there to choose the most logical and sound answer haha.

Station 4 and 5, and the creepy fake Komodo dragon outside Caviar restaurant

Caviar is one of the newer restaurants in Westgate that I really hope to try soon. I hear good things about it from my friend, Joei. Just thought I’d share that.

So anyway, after going around all of the stops, we guessed the secret word and Little MrC was rewarded with his prize of choice – an even bigger Finn the Human stuffed toy. He now has a big one and a small one who sleep on his bed and keep him safe at night.

Yay! We finished the course!

Thanks very much to the Marketing team of Westgate for having us for yet another fun Easter celebration. We’re already excited for Halloween! ๐Ÿ™‚

Bonding Over Crepes and Burgers with My Forever Friends

I missed Christmas dinner with my girls because the little boy and I were down with the flu that week. We made up for it by setting up a post-holiday dinner with the girls, our kids and significant others at Cafe Breton in Westgate Center. I picked this restaurant because the last time we ate there together was in high school or college, and it’s always been one of my favorite places to go for crepes and for their ever so yummy Mozzarella Burger.

Doesn’t that look so good???

An Afternoon at UCC

One of my favorite places to hang out when I want quiet time is UCC in Westgate Alabang. The coffee’s good, the cakes and pastries are good, the food is good, and it’s pricey enough so that I don’t need to worry about the usual noisy Starbucks inhabitants disturbing the peace. The catch is I only get to go there when I have extra money to spend.

UCC also serves one my my favorites among all of the Red Velvet cakes I’ve ever tried. So Red Velvet is usually what I order when I’m there, along with a nice cappuccino. That’s exactly what I had one afternoon when some friends from Festival Mall and I visited Westgate to check out an event setup.

Life in Style at Westgate. Sorry for the ugly photos. It’s my Blackberry’s fault.

This visit was in February, I think. You can see in the photo that the Hub was still boarded up. Now it’s all done and operational. Happy to see that Westgate is growing! It really is one of my favorite places to visit in Alabang.

I just realized that it’s been a while since I last visited UCC. Lately, I’ve been spending my money at Starbucks because of their Christmas drinks. I think maybe I’ll ask the boys if they want to have a meal at UCC soon. ๐Ÿ™‚
